ALL ORIGINAL: 1971 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS454 SURVIVOR GARAGE FIND!

When 1971 came, muscle cars started to have less power. The Monte Carlo offered an SS version which was only produced for 2 years. Sadly, the Monte Carlo didn’t go into the muscle car market. The Monte Carlo went into the luxury car market and it was a successful project. However, in 1970 and 1971, you could have a luxurious muscle car like the Monte Carlo if you checked the SS option. This particular Monte Carlo was found in a garage in California and it is an original SS454.

You can probably see that this is a very nice survivor car. This is an original SS454 which means that this car is 1 of 1,919 made in 1971. The interior of the car has the SS features such as seats, dash, carpet, and door panels all appear to be in great condition. The air conditioning was updated and this car has a very rare feature in 1971, a window defogger. Except for a power seat, this car had every option available in 1971. Under the hood, this car has a numbers matching 454 V8 engine which is hooked up to a TH400 automatic transmission. It made around 365 gross horsepower in 1971. The car also has its original 12-bolt rear end with 3:56 gears. As I mentioned this car is all original, from the paint to the chrome, all original. It also has only 53,000 miles on the clock.

This car is a very good example. The originality, the features, the engine, everything is just perfect and original. The owner also mentions that the car is from California, which means no rust or bondo.
So, is this Monte Carlo a muscle car or a luxury car?
