GM muscle car enthusiasts love the special editions like SS, Ram Air, Stage 1, and 442. Even when the cars are rusty, they ask “is it worth saving it”?
That is the case with this 1969 Oldsmobile 442 that was found in a yard in Amoret, Missouri.
The owner of this car says that this beast is a numbers matching Olds 442 that still has the original 400 V8 engine. Original or not I don’t know anyone that would keep this engine. The owner also mentioned that the car has some engine parts in the trunk, I just hope they are salvageable. The weather did very bad things to the interior. This interior would need to be replaced and as you can see the car has big rust issues on the floors. A lot of cutting, welding, and grinding awaits some brave soul out there.
When you look at a car like this one, there are two options. One is an original restored and the other one is a custom resto-mod. While I would probably choose the first one, I think that wouldn’t be worth it on this car. It has a lot of its original parts missing and a lot of rust issues, so I think a resto-mod would be a much greater choice. So, my question is, would you restore it or resto-mod it?
