Pontiac made only 12,798 GTO Convertibles in 1966 and this is one of them. This car was stored in a barn in Illinois since 1978 and the owner says that he has a lot of parts for it.
As you can see the owner sent us a picture of the parts, but as I see the picture I can spot that a lot of the parts are crusty. The owner says that this car has some rust issues and the rust issues are in the trunk, the quarter panels, and the fenders. The owner also told us that the original engine is present but the 4-speed transmission isn’t. The original engine is a 389 V8. The VIN number indicates that this car is a true 242 GTO.
Overall, this is a very rare car that will need a lot of work. Of the 12,798 made I am sure that not more than 2,000 are known to exist. And the fact that is a true GTO makes it very desirable. However, it will need a lot of time and money to make it shine again.
So, how much time and money would it need?
