When a fan of Camaros sees or hears the words 1LE, he gets really excited. And why shouldn’t he? The 1LE was a factory-made race car with some serious power and grip. This Camaro is a 1 of 62 made for the ’90s races and it still wears its racing regalia. This factory-made race car was found in a garage.
A lot of racing modifications were made to the 1LE to make the street Camaro turn into a track rat. It cost only 700$ to make it this way. This particular car was converted in 1995 and it sure has run a lot of laps on the track. The VIN is still in place and this particular car is an A/C delete which was a popular option back in the day. This car was raced in the Showroom Stock races which was a more exciting race form, putting driver against driver. Although some people will say that a stock 1LE is more desirable, finding one that is still wearing its racing regalia is very hard these days.
After all, this is a very amazing race car with an interesting story. The fact that they made only 62 makes this car a very rare race car. I am very sure that a Camaro fan will fell in love with this car and he will enjoy it on the track every weekend.
In 1989 there were 111 1LE Camaros made. The first 76 when to Canada with car’s number 1 & 2 going to Gm Engineering of Canada. The next 74 went to the Players Ltd GM Motorsport Series. The next 35 went to the US Market with the majority of them used in various racing programs of the day.
