1 OF 215: 1982 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL FOUND IN A GARAGE, HAS ONLY 34K MILES!

Due to the success, Buick had in NASCAR races, they made the Regal-based Buick Grand National. Most of the car fans know the Grand National that was built in 1986-87, but Buick also made 215 Grand Nationals back in 1982. This 1982 Buick Grand National is one of those 215 made. This car was found in a garage and it has only 34,000 miles on the clock.

In the 1981 NASCAR’s top series, Buick won 22 out of 31 races. The biggest reason for that was the aerodynamic advantage that the Regal had. To drive more traffic to their dealerships, Buick released a NASCAR-based Regal called Grand National. The first year of the Grand National had a V6 engine that produced around 125 horsepower. However, there are 20 of those 215 cars that feature a more powerful turbocharged 3.8 V6 engine that produced around 175 horsepower. Grand Nationals weren’t built by Buick, Buick sent Regals to Cars and Concepts and they put the package on the car. The cars also featured the upgraded F41 suspension. This particular GN has a very interesting story. This GN is the first documented GN by VIN. This car was restored long ago and it looks absolutely amazing now. The restoration was mostly cosmetic and this car still has a few issues but they aren’t major. The owner didn’t mention those issues but he did mention that the car runs and drives very well.

I didn’t know that Buick made Grand Nationals back in 1982 until I saw this car. While it isn’t as powerful as 1986-87 GNs, it still is a Buick Grand National. It truly is a very special car with a very valuable history. I am sure that a true G-Body fan knows about this beast and a person like that will probably end up enjoying this beast for many years.
