When 1972 came, most muscle cars didn’t have that much power. What started in 1964 was quickly ending in 1972. Many muscle car enthusiasts consider that the year 1972 was the last muscle car year. By 1973, cars had big engines with less power. However, the Z28 Camaro and the LT-1 Corvette tried to keep the trend alive and going. With that history, the LT-1 powered Z28 Camaro is hard to find these days. However, a man in Texas got very lucky and found one in a storage unit. That find quickly turned from amazing to excellent when he discovered that this particular car is a 1 of 1 made.
Out of 68,000 Camaros produced in 1972, only 2,575 were Z28s. This particular car also features the famous RS package, which makes it a Z28 RS. The RS package was available on the base Camaro too. It featured a split bumper, bright color trim and, an endura-type plastic nose surrounding the grille. The owner says that this Z28 doesn’t have much rust. I have to disagree with him. However, the owner has a donor ’73 Camaro which will help a lot. The interior of this car is a bit rough. The seats are torn apart, the carper is missing and the headliner will need some work. The good thing is that the gauges are present and they work. Under the hood, this car has the famous 350 V8 engine which made 255 horsepower in 1972. The engine is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Both of those are original and numbers matching to the car. The owner says that this Camaro runs and drives. I am not certain if that is true.
Overall, this car is very rare and desirable. The fact that it is a 1 of 1 with this configuration makes it even more special. It will take some time and money to fix it. But, I am sure that the end project will be very amazing.
