Since the 2000s, I have heard of a huge Corvette collection owned by Peter Max. This collection was very hidden and Peter Max didn’t want to sell the cars. The collection contains 36 Corvettes and it was in a storage facility. The story is absolutely amazing, so, let’s get into it.
This collection started back in 1990. VH1 needed more publicitiy so they started a giveaway. They decided to give one Corvette of every year. They started with a 1953 Corvette and ended with a 1989 Corvette. Most of these Corvettes were base models, but there were few which are highly desirable and collectible these days. The giveaway was a huge success and one lucky viewer went home with a lot of Corvette keys. That viewer’s name was Mr. Dennis Amadeo who lived in Long Island. Mr. Dennis Amadeo was contacted by Peter Max about selling the collection. After seeing the collection at an auto show, Peter Max decided to buy the whole collection. He bought the collection with hopes of using it as an art project. Time went by and Peter Max didn’t do anything with the collection. The cars were left in a storage facility, but he didn’t want to sell them. Someone offered Peter Max a huge amount of money for the collection back in 2010 but Mr. Max didn’t change his mind.
The Collection was officially discovered in 2014. Mr. Max decided to sell the Corvettes back in 2014. He didn’t want to separate the cars and the collection didn’t sell. The collection was scheduled to sell again in April 2020 but due to Covid-19, the auction didn’t take place. I don’t know what happened to this collection. Maybe someone bought it maybe didn’t. All I know is that this is probably the best Corvette collection out there and I hope that someone who loves Corvettes will end up owning it.
