1972 OLDSMOBILE 442 CONVERTIBLE FOUND IN A BARN!

This is a 4 barrel carburetor, 4-speed manual transmission, and two exhaust Oldsmobile. In the late ’60s and early ’70s, Oldsmobile’s 442 model was a badass hot rod and this is a 1972 Convertible. This beast has been found in a barn in Pennsylvania.

The 442 Oldsmobile was introduced in 1964 as Oldsmobile’s “A” body mid-size high-performance line up. The Olds 442 was meant to compete with the Pontiac GTO, Buick GS, and, Chevelle SS396. The 442 was available with low performance 350 V8 and also with a high performance 455 V8 that provided a lot more power. And no, they weren’t available with a manual transmission, they were available with a 2-speed automatic and later a 3-speed automatic. This particular 442 is a very desirable Convertible example. The owner says that this beast is a true barn find and that it has some rust issues in the trunk and underneath the car. The doors and the trunk lid on this beast have been replaced, and I see some rust in the fenders and quarters which will need to be addressed. There are also a few dings and dents that you will need to fix.

The interior appears to be in good condition. There are seat covers that probably hide the worn-out seats, but everything else appears to be in nice and original shape. Considering that this is a Convertible that has some rust issues underneath, I would say that the floors can also be rusty. Under the hood, this beast has the less powerful 350 V8 hooked up to a 3-speed automatic transmission, this engine makes around 180 horsepower. The owner mentions that the engine doesn’t run but it turns freely, as you can see in the pictures, this is a very stock and original engine, and probably the issue on this engine is minor (hopefully).

The body-style and the model make this car very rare and desirable. It has some issues and it’s far from perfect, but I see a lot of potential to have a special car here and I am sure that someone will have it.
Are you the one?
