This loaded-up project car is very special, the owner has found this beast in a barn after the previous owner decided that he won’t restore this beast. This beast features the original Royal Maroon paint and the original white interior. This beast doesn’t have the original engine however, it has a period-correct 428 V8 Cobra Jet engine under the hood.
When you see such a rare and special car the big question is why wouldn’t you restore it? Well, a lot of car collectors have that time in their life when they need more money in the bank and more space in the garage. I think that is the case with the owner who planned a restoration on this beast. It is a big shame when you see such a rare cat without the original engine, but this is not uncommon with the powerful muscle car. The owner says that he has some of the original engine parts and that the 4-speed manual transmission is original and numbers matching, that is a good thing to hear.
The interior appears to be in worn-out condition. The seats could be restored but the headliner and door panels will need to be replaced. I see some minor rust in the floors, that will need to be dealt with before it spreads. I don’t see any cracks in the dash however, the pictures aren’t clear enough and that will need to be inspected in person. With most of its original parts and a period-correct 428 Engine, this is a very rare and desirable car. The big question here is: Who will be the one to restore it?
