Putting a big block engine into a 1971 Nova is very tricky. A lot of parts may break and a lot of things could go wrong. Thankfully, this particular 1971 Nova experienced those things and everything is good now. This 1971 Chevrolet Nova is a retired drag car that was found in a barn in Canada.
As I mentioned, this car was built for drag racing. You can’t go drag racing with a low-power engine. That is why the previous owner put a 498 V8 Chevy big block engine in this small Nova. This engine makes around 730 horsepower (yes you read that right 730HP!). All of that power is transmitted through a beefed-up Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission and a Ford nine-inch rear end with 3.73:1 gears. As you would probably expect, the interior is stripped. The interior features a racing seat, roll cage, steering wheel, shifter, and gauges. The car also has a lot of upgraded parts such as suspension, brakes, and more.
Overall, this 1971 Nova is a very serious machine. With 730 horsepower under the hood and a lightweight Nova body, this truly is a monster on the drag track.
