This is the first time that one of our readers sent us a barn find. This barn find is something special. It has a very desirable car with a very unique story. The car is a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS T-Top. The car is a highly original survivor car that has only 7,000 miles on the clock. It was found in a barn by our reader Todd Ballard after being stored there for 24 years.
Special thanks to Todd Ballard for showing us his amazing barn find!
As many of you know, G-Body car prices have been rising up a lot. Finding an untouched G Body car keeps getting harder. That isn’t the case with this Monte Carlo. This Monte Carlo is basically a time capsule and it comes with an amazing story. The Monte Carlo was in a barn for 24 years. The original owner was a friend to Todd. Sadly, the original owner passed away and his wife ended up calling Todd. Todd bought the car and started working on it. The car wasn’t kept very well and had some problems. The first problem was the paint. Todd ended up repainting the car because the original paint was very flat and damaged. The second problem was the engine. The engine looked good until they got deep into it. Apparently, a mouse got to the engine and chewed everything up. Todd ended up changing a lot of parts in the engine such as the gas tank, brakes, belts, hose carb kit, and the air conditioning compressor. The good thing was that the interior was original and good-looking. Todd didn’t do any work to the interior and the interior is still untouched and original. Fun fact: the radio on this car started working after 10 minutes and the first song that started was Turn Up the Radio by the band Autograph.
Overall, this Monte Carlo is a true time capsule. It has some work done which isn’t a major change to the car. Most of the work that Todd done is necessary with a car that was stored for a long time. Todd’s words: “She’s my little Christine! She fought me all the way! But we enjoyed the journey! She is in her forever home!”
This is a very inspiring story!
