1981 PONTIAC TRANS AM TURBO SURVIVOR FOUND IN A YARD, HAS ONLY 20K MILES!

After 20,000 miles of usage, this Trans Am was parked outside and never moved again. As you may expect, time and weather have not been kind to it and the car isn’t in good condition. As you can see, the exterior looks like this car has a lot more miles. However, the owner has some documentation that proves the mileage, and the car has a lot of cool features and options. The car was found in a yard in New England.

As most of you know, Trans Ams from this era are not a very sought out cars. The Smokey And The Bandit era passed and GM started experimenting with these cars. GM found out that a turbocharger can boost the engine’s power and that was the main thing about the Turbo Trans Am. They put a turbocharger in the 301 V8 engine and they had more power than the naturally aspirated engine. Their project was successful and the Turbo Trans Am managed to do a sub-10 second from 0 to 60 run, which was very respectable for the early ’80s. The Turbo Trans Am’s interior was very cool and it featured very unique Recaro seats which are very valuable these days. As you can see the Recaro seats in this car are present but they will probably need a restoration. As you can see, the engine isn’t in such a bad condition and the owner says that it runs and drives.

This Trans Am doesn’t quite fit the description of a 20k mile car. However, the car was left outside which is the reason for the car’s condition. While it won’t need a nut and bolt restoration, it will need a medium restoration. Most of the parts are salvageable and the engine and interior aren’t major issues.
So, do you like the Turbo Trans Am?
