In 1972, the Monte Carlo was in its third year of production and it was a very popular car. This particular 1972 Monte Carlo has a very interesting story. This beauty was a Pace Car in 1972. The car was ordered by a dealer in Richmond to be a Pace Car. Those days are long gone and this beauty was found in a barn in Arkansas.
Hechler Chevrolet in Richmond made this Monte Carlo into a Pace Car in 1972. The owner says that the car is optioned out like an SS Chevelle. These options are bucket seats with a console, a sport steering wheel, a factory tachometer and gauges, and a 12-bolt rear end. The car also has Orange Flame paint with a tan interior and a vinyl top. The only issues with the body on this car are on the roof. The owner says that the roof will need to be replaced, which isn’t a small job. The car runs and drives well, however, the engine has more than 100,000 miles, because of that the engine will probably need some work to make it perfect. The interior will also need some work and probably a new headliner. The seats have some cracks and the headliner is torn apart.
This car has some good things and some bad things. The good thing is that this is a Pace Car which makes it worth restoring. However, a new roof on a car like this one isn’t an easy task. It will take a big amount of time and money to replace the roof on this NASCAR beauty.
So, is this beauty worth saving?
