Sometimes American barns have hidden treasures in them. That was the case with this barn. This barn had a big treasure in it. That treasure was a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440. It was stored since 1981 in a barn in Iowa. The owner also found a 1968 Dodge Super Bee and a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda in the same barn.
This car is good news but it is also bad news. The good news is that the car is complete. The bad news is the condition of the car. This car has a lot of rust. The affected parts are the trunk pan, the floors, rear quarter panels, and around the rear window. The black vinyl top is also in very bad condition. There isn’t a doubt that this car will need a complete restoration from top to bottom. The interior of this car is the same as the exterior. It is complete but the condition of it is very bad. Most of the parts in the interior can be restored. As you can see the previous owner of this car checked a lot of boxes on the options list. This car is loaded with options such as A/C, bucket seats, console, and radio. As I mentioned this Charger is complete. That means that the original engine is under the hood. The original engine is a 440 Magnum V8 engine which is hooked up to a 3-speed TorqueFlite transmission. The car also has power brakes and power steering. This engine was a monster that made around 375 horsepower back in 1968. The owner didn’t mention the condition of the engine.
This car is interesting. It is complete and original, but the condition is bad. Every part will need a restoration or a replacement. With the right amount of time and money, all this can be done. I am sure that a Mopar fan sees a lot of potential in this car. That person will probably make this car as good as it was back in 1968.
