1966 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS396 SURVIVOR FOUND IN A GARAGE, HAS ONLY 12K MILES, RETIRED DRAG CAR, STORED SINCE 1988!

When you hear the term “drag car” you probably don’t think of a nice low mileage muscle car. Well, that isn’t the case with this car. This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a highly original survivor drag car that has only 12,000 miles on the clock. It was raced until the 1980s and the original owner only used it for racing. This beautiful Chevelle was found in a garage in Pennsylvania after being stored there for 33 years!

This car originally had a 396 V8 under the hood. The original owner of the car pulled out the 396 and put a fresh 427 in the car. The car was ready to race by the end of 1988. Sometime in the 1970s, the 427 V8 engine blew up. The car was immediately parked in a garage until 1985. The original owner’s son started racing the car again in 1985. Sadly, the original owner’s son bought a less valuable car and this Chevelle was left in his garage until now. The car is a highly original survivor car. It has some modifications done to it but most of the original parts are present including the original paint. The mileage is around 12,000. The car’s interior is nice and original. Except for the headliner, everything in the interior is nice and original. As you may assume, this car’s engines are long gone. The 396 V8 was sold in 1968 and the 427 V8 blew up in the 1970s. The original owner’s son put a new 427 into the car in 1985 but that engine was thrown out in 1988.

Overall, this Chevelle is a nice-looking car. Though it will need some minor TLC and some bodywork to bring it back to its original and untouched condition.
The big question is: will someone do that work and make this car a daily driver or will he continue to race the car on the drag track?
What would you do?
