In 1970, Mopar changed the body of the Barracuda. This change was very successful and Barracuda’s sales went through the roof. Of 16,492 Barracudas made in 1971, only 501 came with a 383 V8 and a 4-speed manual transmission under the hood. This particular 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda is one of those 501 made and it is a 1 of 1 made in this configuration. This beast was found in a barn and it is a highly original survivor car.
The story goes that the owner bought this car to do a cosmetic restoration, however, he didn’t get to it and he left it in his barn. As you can see, the car’s original paint and graphics are very worn out and this car will probably need a repaint pretty soon. The numbers matching 383 V8 engine is under the hood, however, the original 4-speed manual transmission isn’t. The owner did some work to the car to make it roadworthy again and that work included new brakes, a gas tank, fuel lines, and a new radiator. This car will probably need a lot of cosmetic work and the interior will probably need a complete restoration. The body has a lot of dings and dents and the quarter panels have some minor rust issues.
‘Cudas like this one could reach up to six figures easily. They are highly desirable and very rare cars which can bring a lot of money. This particular ‘Cuda is a real 1 of 1 car and someone will probably do a complete restoration and make the car perfect again.
